College Admission Counselor

Qualifications & Experience

20+ years advising high school and college students.

B.A. from Yale College; M.A. from Tufts University.

Professional of the Year, New England Association of College Admissions Counselors (2014).

Elected as Assembly Delegate for the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC).

In addition to my work as a counselor, I have extensive experience in writing, teaching, and leading school counseling programs. As a parent of two recent college graduates and one current college student, I also bring firsthand knowledge to the parents’ experience of the admissions process.

Approach to Counseling

For me, counseling is about uncovering the story that each student has to tell. Many students worry they don’t have anything significant to share, but everyone has a story worth telling. Together, we reflect on their experiences, interests, and values to create an authentic and meaningful application. My goal is to make students feel proud of their journey—long before they receive acceptance letters. I also help them find joy in the process, especially when writing feels overwhelming, by breaking the work into manageable steps.

Areas of Expertise

  • College essay writing and application strategy.
  • Supporting international students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Guiding athletes through NCAA recruitment.
  • Helping creative students explore art schools and conservatories.

Personal Touch

Working with students from all over the world has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career. I’ve learned about educational systems and traditions from South Korea, Japan, and Afghanistan, supported artists applying to design schools, and helped athletes navigate the NCAA recruitment process for sports ranging from skiing to lacrosse. Every student brings a unique story, and it’s a joy to help them define what “college fit” means for them.

When I’m not guiding students through the admissions process, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. While my partner and children are avid adventurers, I find myself more often warring with a groundhog that insists on invading my garden. But they often coax me into backpacking and Nordic skiing in the mountains we call home. This balance between mentoring students, supporting my family, and enjoying the outdoors keeps me grounded and inspired.
